The Thermoplastic Composites Infrastructure Cooperation Network (CORONET) was formed in 2001 specifically to improve access to thermoplastic composites infrastructure and to encourage the sharing of knowledge and best practice throughout Europe. The network included 18 research and industrial partners spanning 9 European countries.
Thermoplastic composites have undergone substantial growth over the past few years and this is expected to continue over the coming years. To satisfy this growth potential and to meet increased demand, industry must continue to carry out novel research and develop new technologies. In particular, the industry requires skilled researchers, conformity of materials data and information on recovery, recycling and re-use.
The CORONET network provided a starting point for this, and this site provides many examples of the exciting research and developments in thermoplastic composites that the members are involved in.
The main aims of CORONET were to combat the the fragmented nature of thermoplastic composites infrastructure in Europe, by:
-
Improving the exchange of information
-
Increasing the coordination of access to the network’s infrastructures by external researchers.
